Description
Design by Michaela Learner (who really has amazing patchwork designs like these!)
Stitched on some very old linen (which has spent a few generations on someone's attic in a box before it came to me no doubt)
Stitch count: 106 x 96
A part of stitchingpirates current contest. Although I won't be eligible as I won the last contest, I still wanted to join in for funzies!
That's because I just love butterflies!
I changed quite a few of colours in favour of colours that are to my likings. Then I went looking for a matching piece of fabric, I though a neutral colour would set this pretty butterfly off just right so I dug up some reaaaaaaally old pieces of linen I once received from a wonderful elderly lady. And off to stitch I went just choosing my colours as I progressed in the pattern. And this came out of it!
Then off to the bead collection it was for this butterfly and I found a few lovely colourful bead matches in there as well. This was followed by a trip to the sowing machine where I slapped on some white linen. I braided a few strips of leftover fabric from my current sowing projects to help me with hanging this lovely on a wall. Then finally came the last trip to the shed for a rounded wooden stick to hold it with.
Et voila!
My butterfly is done. And a perfect ending stitch up to our summer season here.
